About the Area - Salmon Idaho and The River of No Return
The city of Salmon is nestled along the banks of the “River of No Return” in the heart of the Salmon Valley, a vast land of scenic beauty. This untouched “Idaho Treasure” is rich in history, natural resources and folklore. Once you discover the serenity and solitude of the area, the temptation to become a part of it will be too great to resist. A warm welcome awaits you in this small community.
Lemhi and Custer counties border the largest continuous designated wilderness in the lower 48 states: the Frank Church / Selway Bitterroot Wilderness Areas. We have great outdoor recreation, fishing, river rafting, hiking, snowmobiling and other outdoor adventures. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, beneath the Beaverhead Range on the Lewis and Clark Trail, Salmon is the birthplace of Sacajawea and a famous location on the Lewis and Clark Trail.
There are lots of great websites about Salmon, Idaho.
